Since 1958 The Guidance Center has been committed to its mission to Nurture development. Foster resilience. Cultivate well-being. Throughout the last six decades the agency has maintained a collaborative relationship with its local communities and schools to support adults and children experiencing mental health difficulties and other challenges. A group of concerned residents and educators recognized the need for mental health services in our area and joined forces in 1958 to help form The Guidance Center. Since then we have worked as a team to respond to the needs of children, adults and families in southeast Michigan. The agency operates a wide range of programs and services at 23 locations. Our expertise in mental health and wellness, early childhood education, free pre-school for income-eligible families, intellectual & developmental disabilities services and support, mentoring, substance-use disorder, Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center, Champions of Wayne, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Nurture the Future, and research and evaluation helps more than 15,000 children and adults annually work on their own personal triumphs in life.

The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network is compassionate and committed to the 75,000 children and adults it serves in Detroit and Wayne County. We understand the immense responsibility we have been given and we go above and beyond in supporting the people we serve and the hundreds of Providers in our System of Care. Our Provider Network supports and serves individuals with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbance, people with autism, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those with substance use disorder. OCHN leads a provider service network that assists approximately 23,000 Oakland County citizens at more than 300 service sites across the county. OCHN also manages a $300 million budget funded in part by the Michigan Department of Health Human Services, General Fund, grants, and Oakland County. 

People who receive public mental health services through OCHN's provider network include those who have an intellectual or developmental disability, mental health challenge, or substance use disorder. The majority of these individuals have Medicaid insurance coverage. OCHN's goal is to ensure these individuals are aware of and have access to services and supports that will improve their health and quality of life, as well as ensure their engagement in full community participation.

For more than 30 years, New Oakland Family Centers has been Michigan’s most dedicated providers of quality, compassionate, innovative mental health care and services. Today, more than 30,000 people across our state receive more than 600,000 points of service from New Oakland every year . . . from the Detroit area to Ann Arbor, Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Port Huron.
